Lesley Livingston is the author of Wondrous Strange, Dark Light, and Tempestuous. These three books are a trilogy based around the story of Kelly Winslow, who basically finds out that faeries are real, and not only are they real, but she herself is a faerie princess. It's pretty hard to tell too much about the plot without spoiling it, or at least, that's how I feel, and I'd really hate to spoil it for you guys, because it's sheer brilliance to read it as the author intended.
Suffice it to say, these books are BRILLIANT. Yes, I said it was, and I don't mind saying it again. ;) I'm a hopeless romantic, and so throughout the whole trilogy, you have at the center, Kelley and her "one true love," Sonny, fighting to stay together and ultimately protect one another. The books are complete with epic battles of good versus evil, as well as, of course, a good helping of magic.
Being a lover of fairy-tales, I think it really would have been impossible for me to not at least like this series. Hopeless romantic dreamer that I am, the combination is stunning for me. But like I said, these are beyond that. I don't think I can sing this woman's praises enough. The whole plot line is just original and wonderful, and I would HIGHLY recommend that you look this girl up and read the trilogy.
I also can't WAIT to see what she puts out next. I'm hopeful that it will be something equally as brilliant. :D

The Immortals
So. This blog was an epic fail. But I'm going to make a genuine effort to get it up and going, because I still read a TON!! The current series is some books I got for Christmas. Well, I've had the first one for a while, and my wonderful sister dear got me the second and third ones for Christmas. The fourth one is, I believe, not yet out in paperback, so I shall have to wait a while for that, because otherwise it won't match the others!!!!
Anyhow. These books are by Alyson Noel. With a cool little double dot thing over the "e" but I don't know how to do that. They're...a little bit odd, with the reincarnation and the astrology and blah blah. But the plot itself is AMAZING. Basically. There's the gorgeous Damen Auguste. Who's some 600 years old, because he's an immortal (Thus the title of the series) and Ever Bloom, who's sixteen, but who's soul (I guess?) has been reincarnated numerous times over the last four hundred years, always managing to find her way back to Damen in her various lives. In each life, of course, she doesn't remember Damen at all, but Damen remembers her.
And basically, it's just a pretty intense teen romance, filled with mystery and intrigue and, of course, the villains, with good always triumphing over evil (I hope! =S)
Alyson Noel writes in first person, present tense. I usually have a MAJOR issue with this. First person past tense would be my preference, although I prefer either limited or unlimited third person. However, normally I can't stand first person, present tense. Alyson pulls it off, though. It's just, right. Which I have a lot of respect for. As a writer myself, first person is always more difficult, because it requires a much more intimate knowledge of the character, and it's VERY difficult to make present tense sound good from any view point, but she pulls it off amazingly well.
So, if the fantasy/science fiction genre is sort of your thing, and, like I said, if you're not perturbed by a little odd, well...stuff, here and there, I'd DEFINITELY recommend these.
And. This was a much better review. =D Like I said, I'll try and keep up with this a little better.
